June Movies 2017

6 Movies to See in June 2017

Some months are bad for movies, but June 2017 is going to be an interesting month. Whether you like animated movies, superhero films, or historical fiction, there is something for you. It’s sometimes hard to narrow down the best options, but here are six movies you need to see in June 2017.

#1. ‘Wonder Woman’

The first on the list has to be Wonder Woman. I had to being apprehensive about this when the idea of the movie was announced. I was royally peed off that Wonder Woman’s first appearance was going to be in the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. But those feelings quickly wore off when I got to see Gal Gadot in action.

This is a woman born to play the role. Nothing like the 1970s TV show, Wonder Woman is going to take us back to the origins of the Amazonian warrior. We learn about Diana, the Amazon princess, and how she went on to become arguably the best female superhero out there.

The movie comes out on June 2.

#2. ‘Churchill’

How much do you know about Prime Minister Winston Churchill? You will know him as the prime minister who lead Britain through World War II, but do you know his full involvement in the D-Day landings? Churchill is the movie to watch to find out more.

His historical drama tells Churchill’s story in the final 96 hours before D-Day. The film is set for release on June 2, 2017.

#3. ‘The Mummy’

Fans of reboots may look forward to the release of The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella. This isn’t quite a complete retelling of the original movie, as an ancient princess will be awakened from her crypt in this reboot. However, it’s enough of an unnecessary retelling for me to raise my eyebrows.

It does appear to be a more serious storyline compared to the 1990s original. And Cruise fans will likely enjoy it.

The movie is scheduled for 2D and 3D release on June 9.

#4. ‘The Shack’

When you want a psychological drama, The Shack is the place to turn. This is a book-to-film adaptation of William P. Young’s masterpiece. When a grieving man receives an invitation, he’s shocked to find out it’s a change to meet God.

It stars Sam Worthington, Olivia Spencer, and Tim McGraw. The only downside to the movie I can see is no Morgan Freeman as God.

#5. ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’

Okay, so personally I’m not a Transformers movie fan, but this movie is a must-watch for fans of the franchise. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, and Gemma Chan, in a Transformers world without Optimus Prime. The Transformers and humans are at war, and people need to find out the past secrets to stop a disastrous future.

This is the end to the franchise by Michael Bay. That should be enough to want to see it, because you’ll get to know how it all ends.

The release date is set for June 21, in both 2D and 3D.

#6. ‘Despicable Me 3’

This is the movie that this house is looking forward to the most. I have two kids who adore the minions. Steve Carell is back, voicing the role of Gru, who learns he has a twin brother called Dru. Yes, this twin is also voiced by the comedic talents of Carell.

The minions are sure to pop up, along with Gru’s three adopted daughters.

Despicable Me 3 will be out in theaters from June 30. Yes, it is the last movie of the month.
