Star Wars Mark Hamill Still Stands By Jake Lloyd and the Prequel Movies

The Star Wars prequels have always been a tricky subject amongst fans but firm support by Star Wars Mark Hamill for Jake Llyod and the prequels still remains.

When the first prequel movie was released back in 1999 it divided fans like no other movie. The majority of fans despised the movie and very few appreciated it and it was the movie to start the trend of you either love it or hate, there is no in between.

One of the worst outcomes to happen was the backlash that Jake Lloyd received. Lloyd, who was only ten at the time of filming, received major backlash and hatred from fans for his portrayal of little Anakin Skywalker.

Mark Hamill, who has been a long time supporter of the prequel movies, recently spoke in an interview with Vulture reaffirming his long-standing support and thoughts of the movies. In his interview he references the criticism that Lloyd received by saying that he was, in regards to the heavy criticism of Lloyd:

“Still Angry”

He further discusses that:

“He was only 10 years old, that boy, and he did exactly what George wanted him to do,”

With the reboot of the Star Wars franchise, it is understandable that the actors of the movies will have reservations and fears of receiving similar backlash over the new movies. You can watch Hamill’s full interview by clicking here.
