Disney Pixar announced today, October 27, 2016 release dates for both Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2. Surprisingly the two movies appear to have switched their original release dates.

Both films have already had announcements of expected release dates with Toy Story 4 being the most anticipated of the two. Disney Pixar confirmed via twitter with set release dates, with The Incredibles 2 on June 15, 2018 and Toy Story 4 on June 21, 2019.

This has come as a surprise as it was expected that The Incredibles 2 would be released in 2019 and Toy Story 4 in 2018, making it appear as though the two films have swapped their release dates around.

This announcement will no doubt come as a disappointment to Toy Story fans, as the film has been repeatedly postponed and delayed. The delay should not come as a complete shock however as the original film was released in 1995. Since then Toy Story has become one of the most successful animated films, but it wasn’t until 1999 that the second Toy Story was released and it took a further eleven years to release the third in 2010.

Incredible fans will be rejoicing at the news. The original film came out in 2004 and grossed hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. It even won best animated feature film at the Oscars. Despite the success of the film however fans have had to patiently wait for a sequel.

Currently no reason has been given by Disney Pixar for the swap in release dates, but given their proven track record for creating successful animated films it will no doubt be for the right reason; to ensure the success of the film and above all to ensure that we the fans are not disappointed by a film that was quickly thrown together to meet a deadline.
