‘CHiPs’ has finally made it back to us with the release of its official 1st trailer late last night, January 11th, on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show.

‘CHiPs’ is the 2017 movie which is an adaption of the American TV drama which ran from 1977-1983 on NBC based on the lives of two California Highway Patrol police motorcycle officers, Ponch and Jon, and their adventures as they went about solving crime and helping people. The show ran for an accredited 139 episodes over a period of six seasons and was widely accepted both nationally and internationally.

The movie reboot, which is being directed and written by Dax Shepherd, who also happens to be playing the role of ‘Jon’ Baker alongside Michael Pena as Frank ‘ Ponch’ Poncherello. The movie will not be an exact copy of the TV series but will take many aspects from the show as ‘Ponch’ is an undercover FBI agent within the Highway Patrol trying to bring down a group of dirty cops and is teamed up with Jon who is an former X-Games competitor who only knows how to ride motorbikes.

From the look of the trailer we get the idea, there is going to be a lot of laughs along with plenty of explosions and motorcycle stunts. Shepherd has already said to expect plenty of nudity and foul language which would explain the R rating that the comedy has been given. We got a bit of a ’21 / 22 Jump Street’ feeling to it which is definitely a good thing but it appears to have gone one step further and geared it directly more towards adults much like what ‘Deadpool’  did.

‘CHiPs’ is set to be released on March 24th this year. You can have a look at the first official trailer below and let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
