After the success of the 2016 movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the book of the same name by J.K. Rowling, comes the sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The extension to the Harry Potter wizarding world which focused on Newt Scamander on his trip to the United States will return with the second instalment of the series next year, 2018.

So what is Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald all about?
Continuing on from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander is set to join forces with the famed wizard Albus Dumbledore in the hunt for the notorious dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. The movie is set to take place in 1920’s Paris instead of New York, which the first Fantastic Beasts took place.

Who is set to star in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald?
Unsurprisingly the casting list is huge for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Some of the cast are recurring their role from the first Fantastic Beasts while some are fresh to the series. Amongst the casting is some big name actors along with several well-known characters in the Harry Potter universe being introduced.
Eddie Redmayne is to return to his role as Newt Scamander along with Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler returning as Tina Goldstein, Queenie Goldstein and Jacob Kowalski. Johnny Depp is also set to return as Grindelwald himself.
Newer, and major, introductions to the movie is Albus Dumbledore, the future headmaster of Hogwarts, is set to be played by Jude Law and notable character from the Harry Potter series, Nicolas Flamel is to be introduced. The legendary alchemist and friend of Albus Dumbledore is to be played by Brontis Jodorowsky.

What else do we know about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald?
Entertainment Weekly shared two exclusive photos of the upcoming movie. One showcasing Eddie Redmayne in what appears to be a sewer and the other is a behind the scenes photo of Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law.
Despite there currently being no promotional trailer a first look clip of all the cast together has been made available. The less than 30-second long clip plays on the wizarding world fact that still images (photos and paintings) come to life.

Total Film Magazine shared an exclusive image. The single image in question showed Newt alongside his trusted Muggle companion Jacob in the streets of 1920’s Paris.

Is Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald something that you should go see?
Definitely, if the movie is anything like the first one then it will certainly be a ‘must watch’ movie. The cast alone is undoubtedly a great reason to go see it along with the reputation of the previous movies, including the Harry Potter series, to produce a visually beautiful movie when it comes to any special effects and if you are a Harry Potter fan you will also want to see this just because of the Grindelwald storyline itself.
